Job Description

• Development and optimization of biocatalytic transformations
• Upscale biocatalytic reactions from mg to kg scale
• Conduct feasibility studies for biocatalytic reactions by using various enzyme classes
• Identify new biocatalytic routes for technology development
• Optimization of DSP processes for technology development
• Identify enzyme candidates for protein engineering
• Work on enzyme formulation and immobilization projects
• Support transfer of biocatalytic product synthesis to pilot scale production
• Support activities on securing IP

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc with several years of working experience in enzymology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related fields
• Experience in developing and optimizing enzymatic reactions
• Experience in applying carbohydrate processing enzymes in biocatalytic synthesis is a plus
• Demonstrated ability in developing analytical methods for enzyme activity measurements and reaction monitoring (e.g. HPLC, spectrophotometric, MS)
• Experience in expression and formulation of recombinant enzymes is a plus
• Experience in industrial biotechnology and production of fine/specialty/pharmaceutical chemicals is a plus
• Fluent in English and ability to work in an international and dynamic team
• Ability to work within interdisciplinary team structures
• Broad scientific skills and willingness to deal with various scientific topics
• Independent, structured, and proactive way of working with excellent problem-solving skills
• Commitment, flexibility, and reliability
• Ability to understand complex matters with a continuous focus on improvement
