Junior Structural Design Engineer (m/f/d) – Primary Steel

Start date: ASAP | Location: Hamburg | Working model: Hybrid | Employment type: Permanent employment

In this position, you will become part of our internal team at SeaRenergy and contribute directly to topics that support our projects, specialist departments, and the wider group. As part of your role, we will entrust you with the following responsibilities:

  • Support primary steel structural design activities across concept, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design stages for wind turbine foundations, OSS foundations and OSS topsides.
  • Build structural and FEM models and evaluate analysis results.
  • Contribute to ultimate, fatigue and serviceability design checks.
  • Assist with reviews of external designs by checking calculations, drawings and design documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Check designs and deliverables against applicable rules, standards, guidelines and project specifications, and document findings for review.
  • Review load assumptions and structural details and collaborate across engineering disciplines to understand how fabrication, transportation and installation requirements influence structural design.

  • Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, naval architecture, ocean engineering, offshore engineering or a related discipline.
  • Initial relevant engineering experience, for example through coursework, a thesis or an internship, with exposure to engineering standards or design guidelines.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanics, structural analysis, FEM and material behaviour, with an interest in offshore structures, steel design and marine, operational and installation loads.
  • Initial experience with FEM or CAD software; knowledge of DNV Sesam, SACS, ANSYS or NASTRAN is an advantage, while familiarity with Python or MATLAB is a plus.
  • Good written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • A careful and curious approach to engineering, with a collaborative mindset and willingness to continuously learn and develop.
