Overview
In this role you will lead complex crude oil analytics for the energy prop trading desk, shaping trading strategies through advanced models and timely market insights. You will collaborate with traders and tech teams to forecast supply, demand and margins, and to enhance data-driven decision making. The position sits at the core of trading analytics, offering impact on risk management and strategic execution in a global context. You will work on challenging market analysis with a focus on crude oil and petroleum products, leveraging data to drive business outcomes.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead crude oil and petroleum product analysis at the energy prop trading desk to inform trading strategies
- Develop, enhance and execute complex models to forecast supply, demand and refinery margins (crude-focused)
- Monitor refinery news and market developments to input into models
- Present weekly fundamental updates and maintain daily trader communications
- Benchmark model outputs against external views to identify market expectation gaps
- Provide timely, actionable insights to trading and key stakeholders
- Develop and support initiatives for trading data analytics with head of analytics
- Handle complex issues independently with minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned
Zentrale Anforderungen
- 5+ years of crude oil fundamental analysis experience, preferably on a trading desk with focus on WTI and Brent
- Experience tracking refinery economics and forecasting runs West of Suez; East of Suez is a plus
- Experience tracking crude supplies or ability to validate vendor forecasts
- Petroleum products knowledge and/or cross barrel experience
- Strong technical skills with large data sets
- Programming languages, particularly Python
- Strong communication skills to convey analysis succinctly (presentations, dashboards)
