You will be part of a group of motivated software engineers within the Android AOSP team which enables this experience. A major part of your responsibilities will be the development and integration of a standardized platform for Android-based infotainment system apps based on the Android Open Source Project. The AOSP team’s responsibilities include ownership of the platform, development of interfaces and extensions, and integration inside the boundary conditions of the different infotainment systems in compliance with the rules set by the Android ecosystem. Our goal is to create a dependable and scalable platform for internal and external app developers and ultimately individualized experiences for VW group brands customers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Participate in definition and scoping of a core Android platform product.
- Shape and evaluate new Android concepts and technologies while providing guidance for successful application of concepts.
- Coordinate issue resolution together with customers, partners, and program management.
- Ensure Android-compliant and sustainable implementation by internal teams and partners.
- Play a pivotal role in ensuring timely delivery in high quality.
- Design scalable, extendable, and efficient software components for Android platform integration and its users.
WHO YOU ARE
- University degree (MsC) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent qualification.
- Multiple years of experience in Linux and Android based software planning / steering.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Android and the AOSP, particularly on platform level, test suites, concepts & patterns, build system and security model.
- Excellent communication skills and you are passionate to realize your ideas and concepts target-oriented together with the stakeholders in our company.
- Experience with agile practices, patterns and techniques and software lifecycle management (API management, backward compatibility).
- Native English or German speaker and your language skills are at a high level of proficiency.
