The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, the university cooperates closely with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.
In the division for General Psychology of the Department of Psychology there is a vacancy for a
Research Associate (m/f/d)
(Salary according to TV-L E13, 100%)
to be filled to the next possible date for a limited period of 3 years. There is the possibility of personal scientific qualification [post-doctoral thesis]. The position is suitable for part-time work.
In the context of a project funded by BMBF, a new stimulation method shall be developed for patients with tinnitus. Electrical stimulation will be applied non-invasively via the ear canal. It will be investigated whether a stimulation with alternating current can suppress the tinnitus noise of the patients.
The Department of Psychology offers an interdisciplinary and international working environment and has excellent equipment including a magnetoencephalograph, functional magnetic resonance tomograph, several EEG laboratories and transcranial electrical and magnetic stimulation. Research focuses on cognitive neuroscience issues, the investigation of EEG oscillations and their modulation by non-invasive brain stimulation.
Tasks include:
- Elaboration of experimental designs and writing of the ethics proposal
- Carrying out experiments
- Data analysis
- Writing of manuscripts
Required qualifications:
- Completed scientific university degree (Diploma (Uni)/ Master) in the field of psychology, biology, neuroscience or a related subject
- Completed doctorate in psychology or a related subject
- Experience with experimental methods and questions in transcranial brain stimulation proven by international journal publications
Advantageous qualifications :
- Programming skills in MATLAB
