At the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law of the University of Oldenburg, the Department of Computing Science within the research group "Foundations and Applications of Systems of Cyber-Physical Systems" (Prof. Dr. Martin Fränzle) offers at the earliest possible date a vacancy for a
Scientific Research Assistant (f/m/d)
(pay grade 13 TV-L, 100%)
with a duration of 36 months (with the option to extend), in the research area design and analysis of cyber-physical systems under uncertainty (funding by the state of Lower Saxony). There will be an opportunity for qualification (doctorate). The position is suitable for part-time work.
Recruitment requirements are a scientific university degree (Master or Diploma from a full or technical university) in computer science or mathematics. The position is embedded into an international research group working on formal methods for the rigorous design and automated safety analysis of autonomous and cyber-physical systems like, e.g. autonomous driving. A general requirement therefore is the ability to work in an international team and a good command of written and spoken English.
The successful candidate will conduct research on design methods for cyber-physical systems that enforce quantitative safety goals by design and mathematical verification. She/he has a background in formal methods of computer science or stochastic modeling and analysis and shows interest in probabilistic models of computation, cyber-physical systems and formal semantics. The position includes 4 hours teaching duties (LVS) per week.
Applicants are expected to conduct research leading to a PhD in the above subject areas during their employment. The position offers opportunities to develop both the research and teaching skills required for a permanent academic or industrial career.
The University of Oldenburg strives to increase the proportion of women in academia. Therefore, women are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance to § 21 para. 3 NHG, female applicants with equivalent qualifications should be given preferential consideration.
Applicants with disabilities will be given preference if they have equal qualifications.
