Role Purpose :
Our small German claims team just started and will grow in the coming months. Therefore, to support this growth, we’re hiring a Casualty Claims Specialist.
The prime responsibility of this role is providing direction, handling, and/or oversight of all claims generated by Casualty business classes. This will include effective claims handling in accordance with the Claims department’s guidelines and procedures. The claims adjuster will investigate and evaluate complex and severe claims, primarily related to the Casualty business.
The role holder will participate in all aspects of a claims file including data gathering, investigation, and development of claim summaries and timelines. A key part of the role is also preparing documentation and maintaining appropriate databases and systems, in addition to preparing claims reports and communicating updated claims information to health system entities, as directed.
Key Accountabilities :
- Customer and solution-oriented processing of claims from the area of industrial liability insurance, including major and complex claims.
- Claims handling encompasses all aspects of a claim from start to finish, including fact-finding, liability and coverage evaluation, reserving, evaluation of subrogation opportunities, and deriving measures for future loss prevention.
- Efficient and cost-effective claims settlement including responsibility for investigation, settlement, and litigation costs.
- Documentation of the information received in the claim file as well as in the systems relevant to the claim.
- Regular review of the reserve set, taking into account the respective development of the individual case.
- Transparent and comprehensible communication with all internal and external customers involved in the claim, in particular policyholders, brokers, or attorneys.
- Cooperation with other internal units to ensure rapid and customer-oriented claims settlement.
- Monitoring trends and deriving loss prevention measures.
- Assuming other work-related tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Abilities
- Strong experience (5-10 years) of managing Casualty Claims.
- Additional experience in Financial Lines claims is desirable.
- Business fluent in written and spoken German and English.
- An inquisitive and entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to share new ideas.
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Good legal knowledge to evaluate liability and/or coverage law issues.
- Ability to work independently but also in a team.
- Analytical thinking and ability to derive conclusions.
- Simple and understandable communication skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Office.
