About the Company Our client is building the intelligent software layer that enables robots and sensors to perform dangerous and security‑critical tasks in the physical world. Combining AI, robotics, cloud infrastructure, and edge computing, the team is developing the orchestration platform behind autonomous security systems designed to protect people and critical infrastructure.
You will join a small, highly technical founding team in Zürich, working alongside specialists in AI, robotics, and physics to build systems that move from research into real‑world deployment.
Location: Zürich, Switzerland – On site
Remote Work: Considered only for exceptional candidates
Employment Type: Full‑time
Level: Mid‑Senior Level
Visa & Relocation: Full support available across Europe
Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud & Edge Robotics As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will build the platform connecting the company’s robot fleet with cloud services, operators, and engineering teams. You will own the infrastructure that allows software to move reliably and securely from a developer’s laptop to robots operating in customer environments. Your scope will include cloud foundations, Kubernetes, secure networking, CI/CD, observability, edge fleet management, and developer tooling.
What You’ll Do Cloud Infrastructure
Build and operate secure cloud foundations across AWS or GCP
Own networking, IAM, security controls, reliability, and infrastructure costs
Develop scalable infrastructure using Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools
Make pragmatic architecture decisions suited to an early‑stage company
Kubernetes & Edge Runtime
Build and operate Kubernetes environments across cloud, on‑premise, and edge deployments
Use lightweight distributions such as K3s for robots and customer environments
Manage container images, workload orchestration, secrets, upgrades, and runtime security
Design infrastructure that remains reliable in limited‑connectivity environments
Secure Connectivity
Build hardened communication between cloud services, operators, and robots in the field
Own VPNs, TLS, certificates, PKI, firewalls, and identity controls
Support secure deployments for enterprise, government, and security‑sensitive customers
Establish audit trails, secrets management, and baseline infrastructure hardening
CI/CD & Deployment
Build fast, repeatable deployment pipelines for cloud services and on‑robot software
Improve build, testing, release, and rollback processes
Support over‑the‑air updates, configuration management, and fleet‑wide deployments
Reduce deployment risk while enabling the team to ship quickly
Observability & Reliability
Implement logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting across cloud and edge systems
Build incident‑response capabilities that scale with the product
Improve visibility into robot health, connectivity, workloads, and deployment status
Design for resilience across distributed and on‑premise environments
Developer Experience
Build internal tools, local development environments, and testing infrastructure
Remove friction for AI, robotics, and software engineers
Automate repetitive operational work
Help the engineering team move faster without compromising reliability or security
What We’re Looking For Must Have
4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure, or a related role
Strong hands‑on experience with AWS or GCP
Production‑level Kubernetes expertise
Experience with lightweight Kubernetes distributions such as K3s
Strong Infrastructure‑as‑Code experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools
Solid networking and security fundamentals, including VPNs, TLS, PKI, certificates, and firewalls
Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools
Ability to write production‑quality code in Python, Go, or another systems‑oriented language
Experience building infrastructure or internal platforms from the ground up
High ownership, autonomy, and comfort working in an early‑stage environment
Nice to Have
Experience deploying software to robots, IoT devices, or other edge hardware
Experience with OTA updates, A/B deployments, fleet management, and rollback strategies
Background in robotics, defence, security, industrial systems, or autonomous platforms
Experience with on‑premise or air‑gapped environments
Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry
Experience supporting ML infrastructure, GPU workloads, model serving, or training systems
Experience building developer platforms that materially improved engineering velocity
What Success Looks Like
Engineers can deploy safely and quickly from development to cloud and robot fleets
Cloud and edge systems remain observable, secure, and reliable as deployments scale
New customer environments can be launched without rebuilding infrastructure from scratch
Deployment failures can be diagnosed and rolled back quickly
Infrastructure supports growth without becoming a bottleneck for the engineering team
What We Offer
Competitive compensation with meaningful equity potential
Full visa and relocation support across Europe
High ownership over foundational infrastructure
Direct collaboration with the founders
Access to real robot fleets, field data, and modern computing resources
Work alongside experts in AI, robotics, and physics
A small, international, low‑ego team focused on shipping systems that work
The opportunity to shape the infrastructure behind a new generation of autonomous security technology
If you want to build the secure cloud and edge infrastructure that brings autonomous robots into the real world, we would love to hear from you.
