Overview

In this role you join the ATLAS Group to drive the electronics integration for the new RPC detectors in the muon spectrometer upgrade. You will lead production, testing, and QA/QC, and coordinate installation and commissioning of detectors in the ATLAS cavern. Your experience with gaseous detectors and fast electronics will help ensure a robust upgrade delivery. This is a hands-on, collaborative position within CERN’s dynamic research environment, offering impact on a flagship physics experiment.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Lead production and testing of electronics boards (Front-End, Low Voltage, connection boards)
  • Coordinate QA/QC activities
  • Support integration of electronics into RPC detectors
  • Participate in QA/QC testing of fully equipped chambers
  • Debug problematic chambers and optimize performance
  • Coordinate testing before/after installation of new chambers
  • Serve as main liaison between RPC project and Technical Coordination during installation
  • Oversee detector commissioning after installation

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • PhD or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong experience in design, debugging and operations of fast electronics boards for gaseous detectors
  • Demonstrated experience in operating and commissioning gaseous detectors
  • Knowledge of gas detectors physics
  • Ability to work in small to medium teams in a leadership role
