Overview

As Field Coordinator for HGCAL, you oversee the assembly, integration, testing and commissioning of a state-of-the-art detector. You will coordinate surface assembly, underground installation, and system-level testing within a multinational team, ensuring safe, efficient execution. You provide technical support to physicists and engineers while liaising with coordinators and service groups. This role combines hands-on construction with high-level project planning to advance CMS capabilities.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Oversee HGCAL assembly and testing facilities, including cleanrooms and assembly hall
  • Coordinate cassette insertion, stacking, and electrical/mechanical connections between detector sections CE-E and CE-H
  • Plan and supervise large-scale detector integration and testing, including cold testing of the full system
  • Support installation and commissioning underground within CMS and surface tests of sectors
  • Manage logistics for detector modules, cassettes, and ancillary equipment
  • Provide technical support to physicists, engineers and technicians using facilities
  • Liaise with HGCAL Technical Coordinators, Safety Officer, CMS Technical Coordination and CERN service groups

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • Master's Degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience planning and coordinating facilities for assembly and testing of complex devices
  • Experience in assembly and testing of particle detectors, preferably silicon-based
  • Familiarity with Merlin and MS Project for project planning
  • Proven ability to work in multinational, multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience operating and maintaining electromechanical equipment and experimental facilities
  • Strong planning, organisation and control capabilities
  • Ability to supervise testing and validation of detector components
  • Fluency in English; willingness to learn French
  • Driving licence and willingness for on-site/underground work
