In this role, you will contribute to a major upgrade program of CERN's accelerator complex by maintaining, replacing, and installing beam instrumentation systems. Your day-to-day work involves removing and installing equipment components across accelerator facilities, tracking interventions using CERN's management tools, and coordinating on-site progress with engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities
- Remove equipment components for refurbishment or replacement.
- Install new instrumentation systems and upgrades throughout the accelerator complex.
- Track your tasks using CERN's management tools and provide updates in team meetings.
- Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and other groups to keep everyone informed of on-site progress.
- Work across different areas of CERN's accelerator facilities, following all safety protocols and ensuring precise, clean execution of technical interventions.
Profile
- Comfortable using standard hand tools and basic technical equipment.
- No prior experience with particle accelerators or beam instrumentation required. We will train you on CERN-specific systems.
Skills
- Quick learner comfortable adapting to new tools, procedures, and technical environments.
- Attention to detail and careful approach when working with sensitive electronic and electromechanical equipment.
- Good communicator who works well with diverse technical teams.
- Practical problem‑solving mindset.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Eligibility Criteria
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical or Electrical (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week.
