As a Supply Chain & Inbound Customs Expert (m/f/d), you will own our complete inbound flow from China and the Far East, from the supplier all the way to our warehouse. You will make sure our goods arrive on time, clear customs smoothly and reach us at the right cost.

You will work closely with our suppliers, our sourcing office in Shanghai, forwarders, customs partners and our warehouse. At the same time, you will build and develop our customs and inbound setup.

• Own the complete inbound flow from China and the Far East, from booking and pickup at the supplier through air or sea transport and German customs clearance to delivery at our warehouse
• Plan shipments with suppliers and our sourcing office in Shanghai, including ready dates, bookings, shipment consolidation and the choice between air and sea freight
• Coordinate all parties along the way: suppliers, forwarders, carriers, customs agents and brokers, and the warehouse
• Handle import customs clearance in Germany independently, from preparing and checking commercial invoices, packing lists and origin documents to filing or checking ATLAS import declarations, working directly with customs offices or through agents where needed
• Resolve customs queries, inspections and holds, and manage post-clearance corrections and refunds
• Determine HS/TARIC classifications and customs values, and apply for binding tariff information (vZTA) where useful
• Set up and maintain our customs setup, including duty deferment (Zahlungsaufschub) and representation agreements with brokers
• Plan deliveries and receiving with the warehouse, and keep Buying and Inventory Planning informed about ETAs, delays and risks
• Check freight, customs and duty invoices, and track landed cost and inbound KPIs such as lead time, on-time arrival and cost per shipment
• Build and manage a flexible inbound setup with forwarders and customs partners, including rates, service levels and performance reviews

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in import logistics and customs clearance in Germany, at an importer, forwarder or customs broker
• Proven end-to-end responsibility for imports from Asia: you have personally managed shipments from supplier pickup through customs clearance to warehouse delivery, not just individual steps such as freight booking or customs filing
• Hands-on ATLAS experience: you have prepared or checked import declarations yourself and dealt directly with German customs offices
• Solid knowledge of customs value, import VAT, duty deferment and HS/TARIC classification
• Experience with air and sea freight from China or Asia, working with several forwarders
• Vocational training in freight forwarding and logistics (Kaufmann/-frau für Spedition und Logistikdienstleistung) or a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or International Trade
• A certified customs qualification, e.g. Zertifizierte Zollfachkraft (IHK), is a plus
• Experience with apparel or consumer goods, ideally in E-Commerce, is a plus
• Experience building inbound or customs processes at a growing company is a plus
• Confident with Excel and ERP systems
• Hands-on, well organized and calm under time pressure: you follow up until the goods are in the warehouse
• Fluent German and English, Chinese language skills are a plus
• Willingness to work from our headquarters in Düsseldorf at least 4 days per week
