Europe Credit Product Strategy & Operations – SVP
Institutional Credit Management (\“ICM\“) was established within Citigroup to provide integrated end-to-end credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise.
This role supports ICM in Europe, focusing on Citigroup Global Markets Europe (CGME) and Citibank Europe plc (CEP). The position is based in Frankfurt, Germany.
The role requires expertise in wholesale credit, understanding of systems, controls, quality assurance, and practices relevant to wholesale lending, along with practical experience across multiple business cycles. A thorough understanding of the regional strategic direction, legal entities, and a solid grounding in wholesale lending and credit risk management are essential.
The role involves collaboration with various teams (including ICM, first and second line, Business Managers, Control, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Technology) to ensure issues are escalated and addressed promptly.
Responsibilities:
- Cluster support: Support the regional Europe ICM Management team with credit risk oversight, governance, and leadership activities to achieve business objectives.
- Internal/External Reviews: Partner with Policy and Review teams for audit and compliance testing, providing materials and addressing concerns for European legal entities.
- Credit Product Strategy: Design and implement initiatives related to process and policy improvements, technology requirements, regulatory remediations, and risk identification across European legal entities.
Support initiatives to enable ICM activities, ensuring compliance with European and German laws such as MaRisk, EU Capital Requirements Regulation, Market Abuse Regulation, and MiFID.
Manage business operations, governance, outsourcing, and engagement with management teams to meet organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Extensive business management or credit risk experience
- Experience managing teams, both directly and virtually
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to operate independently and exercise judgment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible skillset and approach; experience with Citi or Wholesale Credit Risk is a plus
