Overview
In this role you will optimize the core ClickHouse database and drive performance across distributed systems. You’ll collaborate with core and open-source teams to assess feature impact, extend performance tests, and help debug advanced performance issues for customers. You will engage with the open-source community, review contributions, and contribute to performance-focused initiatives for both open source and ClickHouse Cloud offerings. This fast-paced, collaborative environment seeks a hands-on engineer who ships measurable performance improvements and scalable solutions.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Analyze and optimize performance of the core ClickHouse database
- Extend and create performance tests based on real-world and synthetic data
- Support Engineering team with debugging performance issues for customers
- Collaborate with other core teams to assess feature impact on performance
- Engage with the open-source community: review PRs, resolve issues, answer questions
- Contribute to performance tests and advice for colleagues
- Monitor and improve efficiency, availability, and scalability of systems
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Solid professional software development experience in C++
- Experience with Unix systems
- Strong knowledge of database internals and design
- Experience in performance engineering (databases or similar domains)
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration
- Willingness to work with the open-source community and participate in code reviews
- Good production debugging skills
- Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability and data governance
- Ownership and accountability in a fast-paced environment
- Bonus: experience with ClickHouse, security/privacy/compliance, TCP/IP/network programming, cloud infra (Kubernetes), public talks, open source contributions
