Overview
As Engineering Manager for the ClickHouse Managed Postgres team, you will blend people leadership, technical direction, and product vision to deliver a reliable PostgreSQL service within ClickHouse Cloud. You will own outcomes across provisioning, failover, recovery, upgrades, observability, performance, and security, guiding architecture with senior engineers. You’ll translate customer needs into a multi-quarter roadmap and drive operational excellence across on-call, incidents, and automation. This role offers impact at scale by shaping a cross-functional product that bridges PostgreSQL workloads with real-time analytics.

- Lead and grow a high-performing team with clear expectations and performance management
- Own multi-area outcomes: provisioning, fleet management, failover, PITR, upgrades, observability, performance, security
- Turn customer and business needs into a multi-quarter roadmap with milestones
- Guide architecture and help senior engineers make trade-offs
- Improve operational quality across SLOs, on-call, incidents, and automation
- Engage with customers to turn recurring pain into product improvements
- Align dependencies, surface risks early, and maintain execution across a distributed org
- Hire and develop PostgreSQL, systems, and reliability talent while fostering ownership
Zentrale Anforderungen
- 8+ years in software engineering
- 3+ years managing engineers in infrastructure, databases, or developer platforms
- Experience building and operating a customer-facing stateful service with high availability and security needs
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or managed relational databases (replication, WAL, HA, recovery, upgrades, observability, performance)
- Technical credibility to engage in architecture and incidents without owning day-to-day implementation
- Proven hiring, coaching, and retaining engineers including senior ICs
- Strong execution judgment across ambiguity and parallel workstreams
- Customer mindset, strong product partnership, and distributed-team leadership
