Job Overview The iClimateAction project brings together the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to improve the alignment of climate data creation, management, and use. Funded by Horizon Europe 2023‑2025, the project supports coordination among GCOS, GEO, and WMO to strengthen open, interoperable observation systems for Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) and to develop a coherent, sustainable global observing system.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support work in all seven Work Packages (WPs), especially WP 7: project management framework, progress and deliverable monitoring, risk identification and corrective action, meeting organization, and stakeholder reporting.
Coordinate and implement project activities with the Project Coordinator, consortium partners (GEO, GCOS), and point‑of‑contact members.
Monitor and analyse progress of work packages, deliverables and milestones in line with the Grant Agreement and Description of Action.
Organise project meetings and technical exchanges; maintain and archive documentation, minutes and correspondence.
Ensure compliance with EU financial regulations and Horizon Europe guidelines; monitor financial activities and expenditures against the approved budget.
Analyse financial data provided by the consortium; prepare and consolidate financial and technical reports, cost statements and supporting documentation.
Support audits and reviews by coordinating required documentation.
Contribute to quality assurance of deliverables and milestones, including preparation of Quality Management Reports (QMR).
Draft periodic technical and financial reports for the European Commission; analyse project results and impact; ensure adherence to ethical, legal and data‑protection requirements.
Contribute to the Communication and Engagement Strategy; develop communication materials (presentations, articles, briefs, factsheets, visual content); organise stakeholder meetings and outreach activities.
Co‑develop strategic analyses of WMO, GEO and GCOS governance frameworks for Earth observation and global climate data; facilitate evidence‑based assessment through stakeholder consultations.
Prepare high‑level consultations and inter‑organizational dialogue.
Education and Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
Alternatively, a first‑level university degree plus at least two years of directly relevant experience.
Experience
At least two years of progressively responsible experience in project management and/or communications, preferably in international or EU‑funded projects.
Proven experience with financial monitoring, reporting and compliance in line with EU or international donor requirements.
Demonstrated track record in organising multi‑stakeholder meetings and supporting international partnerships.
Experience working across multi‑disciplinary or inter‑agency teams.
Other Requirements
Familiarity with the UN system and global environmental governance processes, including WMO, GCOS and/or GEO.
Strong knowledge of Horizon Europe or similar international research funding frameworks.
Ability to collaborate across institutions and adapt to complex, multi‑partner environments.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written).
Knowledge of any of the official languages of the Organisation (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

Salary and Allowances Position funded from extra‑budgetary funding at 80 % FTE.
Annual net base salary on initial appointment: US$ 44,837.
Annual post‑adjustment on initial salary (additional to net base): US$ 38,918.
Probation and Renewal Initial probationary period of one year, extendable up to a maximum of two years pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
