Overview
As Science Manager, you will shape Climeworks Solutions’ NBS offering by advancing rigorous quality assessments for ARR, IFM, and Mangroves. You’ll lead market screening, due diligence, and partner evaluation to ensure high-integrity carbon removal projects. Collaborating with Sourcing and cross-functional teams, you’ll define pathways, metrics, and strategic approaches that drive responsible, scalable nature credits. This is an opportunity to influence market standards and partner ecosystems while shaping product positioning and risk management.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Develop and tailor Quality Assessment Frameworks for nature-based pathways
- Conduct supplier assessments, ratings, and ongoing project monitoring
- Perform deep due diligence on technical, scientific, and commercial aspects (additionality, measurability, carbon accounting, co-benefits, reversal risk)
- Classify projects into sub-pathways and archetypes for quality benchmarking
- Map geographies and prioritize high-potential projects with senior stakeholders
- Support contracting with quality-focused amendments and conditions
- Foster strategic partnerships with rating agencies, registries, NGOs, and industry leaders
- Collaborate across Science, Sourcing and Commercial units to inform pathway strategy
- Assist sales with project selection guidance and RFP responses
- Educate internal stakeholders on methodological advances and market evolution
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Master in a relevant field
- PhD a plus
- Experience in nature-based solutions project development, assessment, MRV, or related fields
- Experience in carbon markets or carbon dioxide removal is a strong plus
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize multiple datasets
- Critical thinking and problem-solving across diverse data sources
- Good commercial judgment and strategic thinking
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to manage multiple projects with clear communication and cross-functional alignment
