We're looking for an experienced and passionate Backend Lead to drive the development of our backend infrastructure and ensure seamless integration with third-party systems, all while guiding a team of talented developers.
Key Responsibilitie as our new Backend Developer Team Lead
Location: Germany (on-site or part-time remote)
Core System Integration:
- Lead the development and integration of the Mona Core system , ensuring the reliable storage and processing of patient data.
- Seamlessly connect our backend with other Clinomic products, driving interoperability across healthcare solutions.
- Work closely with system architects, frontend developers, QA, DevOps, and interoperability teams to convert design specs into robust and maintainable backend code.
- Actively participate in code reviews and team discussions, ensuring best practices are followed across the team.
3rd-Party Integrations:
- Coordinate technical partnerships, ensuring smooth integration with external systems, ensuring data consistency and security across various platforms.
API Design & Implementation:
- Implement and help design scalable REST, WebSocket, and FHIR APIs that power Clinomic's Mona Terminals and enable cutting-edge healthcare workflows.
Software Documentation:
- Own the creation and maintenance of backend software documentation, from design specs to code documentation, ensuring traceability and clarity across the development lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, ensuring team growth and fostering a collaborative, learning-first culture.
Quality Assurance:
- Uphold the highest standards of product quality by integrating development best practices such as unit testing, specification reviews, and rigorous code reviews.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a software engineer, with proven end-to-end development experience.
- Pragmatic decision-making with a strong ability to balance deadlines, scope, and maintainable code.
- Fluent in Python, Java, Groovy , and ideally Django and machine learning libraries.
- Strong understanding of API development, especially REST and FHIR .
- Experience working in agile environments, collaborating across departments, and mentoring junior team members.
- Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus).
Preferred Experience:
- Degree in Computer Science , Physics , Engineering , or a related field.
- Experience with HL7 and FHIR protocols .
- Experience in high-throughput and high-confidentiality systems , with knowledge of authentication, authorization, data consistency, and system failover.
- Experience in a regulated field like medical devices, aerospace, or automotive, ideally within healthcare IT or medical systems.
