Infrastructure & Network Engineer
- Contract: Initial 6-month contract
- Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany
- Rate: Up to €650 per day
Our client is looking for an Infrastructure & Network Engineer to implement, operate and support secure, scalable cloud, infrastructure and network services across Azure and hybrid environments. You will help keep critical services fast, resilient and cost-efficient, delivering engineering work to high standards of reliability and security. This role is ideal for a hands‑on third‑line engineer who enjoys cloud, automation and networking, and is committed to raising the security bar.
What you’ll do
- Deploy and support Azure and on-premise infrastructure, including hybrid and multi-cloud integrations.
- Lead cloud migration activities in line with approved designs and change controls.
- Build infrastructure as code using Terraform and develop CI/CD pipelines for automated, reliable deployments.
- Deliver secure, scalable network infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, network and service issues in line with agreed SLAs.
- Own patching, hardening, secure configuration and vulnerability remediation.
- Investigate security alerts and support incident response, recovery and root cause analysis.
- Mentor colleagues and drive continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring Essential
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure or Network Engineer in enterprise environments.
- Strong Azure skills, including compute, networking, VNets, NSGs, Load Balancer, ExpressRoute and gateways, as well as hybrid and on‑premise environments.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform infrastructure as code and scripting using PowerShell, Bash or Python.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS and DHCP.
- Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure AD and ITIL-aligned service management.
- Experience with incident response, SLAs, patching, hardening and vulnerability management.
- Experience with VMware or Hyper‑V.
- Awareness of ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2 and CIS.
- Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative, mentoring style.
Nice to have
- Experience with Fortinet, including FortiGate SD-WAN, firewalls and FortiManager.
- Knowledge of the Azure Well-Architected Framework and experience with on‑premise to Azure migrations.
- Experience supporting ISO 27001-certified environments.
Preferred certifications
- Azure Administrator certification.
- Microsoft administrator-level certifications.
- ITIL Foundation or higher.
- Fortinet NSE certification.
