Overview
As a Staff Engineer at Cloudera, you will own the next generation of our enterprise Apache Iceberg distribution, shaping data lake architectures at petabyte scale. You will contribute to the Iceberg open-source project and drive performance improvements across the Cloudera stack, enabling efficient multi-cloud data processing for global customers. You’ll collaborate with product, customers, and cross-functional teams to evolve Iceberg features for modern data lakes. This role offers impact at scale, working on distributed systems that power large enterprises and AI-driven analytics.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Drive the future of data architecture by contributing to Apache Iceberg
- Implement Iceberg-based features to improve performance across the Cloudera stack
- Collaborate with product managers and customers to identify improvements for Modern Data Lakes
- Develop new features in Java on modern platforms
- Understand and leverage Iceberg across the Cloudera stack in daily tasks
- Debug deployment issues, perform root-cause analysis, and conduct system tests
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 6+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 4–6 years; OR PhD with 2–4 years
- Hands-on programming with solid data structures and algorithms
- Experience in systems design and development
- Strong knowledge of Java, Scala, C++, or Python; willingness to learn we are using
- Passion for clean code, quality, and detail
- Ability to work independently and in international teams
