Created on January 1st 2008, CMA Ships is a fully-owned subsidiary of CMA CGM with the objective to manage all fleet related operations.
CMA Ships is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and operates under various flags’ Documents of Compliance (DOC).
A team of more than 4,700 seafarers of all nationalities including more than 300 cadets are working at sea and ashore. It includes a Marine Human Resources Department to accompany the seafarers, a fleet management department with more than 40 superintendents ashore, a dedicated department supervising the ship-buildings, the development of IT systems and working on energy issues and innovation with engine experts, a dedicated Purchasing department, a specialized team to organize the vessel dry docks as well as a team of experts to run the Fleet Navigation and Support Center to monitor the CMA CGM fleet 24/24.

For the CMA Ships Germany entity in Hamburg we are recruiting a CREWING MANAGER (f/m/d) .
The Crewing Manager reports directly to the Managing Director of CMA Ships (Germany) with the following responsibilities:
- Ensure proactive communication with the vessels; act as a Point of Contact in case of crewing related critical matters.
- In charge of the good quality of the global planning.
- In charge of global top 5 officers planning, proposed by the Recruitment and Placement Service.
- Validate or reject in the system senior officers lined up by the Recruitment and Placement Service depending on their suitability.
- Approve crew changes in the other than the most cost-efficient ports as per the guidelines or / and the MHRD specific requirements – including the most expensive ports.
- Review and approve, if required, proposed replacements in case of emergency reliefs.
- Validate promotions of junior officers.
- Prepare and / or validate internally prior presenting to the MHRD a transfer/ exit plan for a vessel changing a nationality allocation or leaving the company as well as prepare a relief plan for any specific projects as requested by the MHRD.
- Monitor the status of outperformers as well as poor performers (including feedbacks / status of debriefings) prior their next vessel assignment.
- Formalise, following MHRD recommendation, a decision together with Recruitment and Placement Provider to remove a seafarer from the pool, all in accordance with due process, contractual obligations, all crewing and grievance procedures and ensures the update in the database.
- Prepare or review weekly / monthly reports, to provide input and manage the monthly KPIs.
- Check and approve the non-wage crew costs, mustering expenses or shorthand bonus.
- Monitor the vessel’s visit log book and respective vessel visit’s reports.
- Ensure that the Managing Director and MHRD is always kept updated and fully informed of all exceptional cases.
- Submit Exemption requests to MHRD in case of deviation from procedures.
- Participate in:
- Accidents and incidents investigations when requested.
- Seafarers’ training selection, training design and training evaluation.
- Investigation and resolution of seafarer’s complaint.
- Drug and alcohol policy compliance.
- MLC (regulation watch, certificates and expertise).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree would be an advantage) preferably in business or management.
- Excellent knowledge of mandatory STCW certifications, Seafarer’s Employment t&c, MLC 2006, CBA and Flag States’ requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Proper command of English, both written and spoken experience.
- Five years of relevant experience, preferably in Marine Personnel Department or shipmanagement company including preferably three years of supervisory experience.
