Senior Accountant

Cobelfret is a well‑established group of dry‑bulk shipping companies with offices in Luxemburg, Singapore, Switzerland, Miami and Antwerp. We operate worldwide a time‑chartered and owned fleet of about 100 vessels ranging from handysize to capesize. Due to the continued growth of the group, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to strengthen our finance and accounting team in Switzerland.

In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting of the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring accurate financial records, timely closings and compliance with applicable Swiss accounting standards. You will work closely with internal teams, external auditors and operational stakeholders in an international shipping environment.

Your key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for the company and its subsidiaries, including analytical and multi‑currency accounting.
• Ensure bookkeeping, reconciliations and integration of operating accounts into the general accounting records.
• Prepare annual closings and statutory financial statements (including notes) in accordance with Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Prepare periodic internal financial reporting and support management with accurate financial information.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and tax requirements and support during VAT and other tax‑related external audits.
• Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and support the annual audit process.
• Maintain accurate financial data in the company’s ERP system.
• Support supplier payments, payables and receivables follow‑up where required.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc finance and shipping‑related accounting projects.

Requirements

• Solid experience in accounting, ideally within the shipping industry.
• Good knowledge of Swiss accounting standards, Swiss GAAP and the Swiss Code of Obligations.
• Experience with multi‑currency accounting and statutory financial statements.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong ability to meet deadlines and stress resistance.
• Comfortable working with ERP systems; knowledge of Cresus and ODOO is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluent English is required; French is an asset.
