Senior Mechanical Engineer

Exciting opportunity as a Mechanical Engineer with a leading Automotive Tier 1.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Mechanical CAD activity on new or support existing projects.
2. Create, evaluate and document mechanical designs using corporate tool sets (NX).
3. Support prototype builds and parts ordering and procurement.
4. Support ME Documentation requirements in line with ME Design processes.
5. Attend project/customer team meetings.
6. Support Mechanical Verification and Validation activities, requests, testing and documentation.
7. Support Change Management process as required.
8. Liaise with suppliers during the development and sourcing activity.
9. Liaise with the customers in all aspects of the product development.
10. Particular understanding and evaluation of customer specification, documentation.

Qualifications:

1. Good Mechanical Engineering background.
2. 3D Modelling experience is required, preferably UG NX / CATIA.
3. Knowledge and understanding of GD&T principles and their application.
4. Understanding of the relationships between manufacturing processes materials, and components designs for plastic, sheet metal, and die cast parts.
5. Logical structured approach to problem solving and decision making.
6. Design experience in a cost competitive automotive environment with particular focus on stringent sealing, thermal and vibration conditions.
7. Experience of Ansys Design Space or similar FEA simulation tools is also preferred but not essential.
8. Use of DFA/DFM, DFMEA tools and experience within effective problem solving methodologies.
9. Technical proficiency in a second European Language would be an advantage.
