About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join the engineering team of a fast-growing FinTech business developing innovative, scalable, and secure financial technology solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with expertise in modern front-end and backend development to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software applications within a dynamic financial services environment.

The successful candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, building responsive user interfaces, developing robust backend services, integrating APIs, and helping scale cloud-based applications. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, maintainable, and secure solutions that support business growth and evolving customer requirements.

This is a fully remote, 6-month contract opportunity for candidates based in Germany, with an immediate start available.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full stack applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces in line with modern front-end development standards.
• Develop and maintain backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices to support business-critical applications.
• Design and implement scalable software architectures that support performance, reliability, and future growth.
• Integrate internal services, third-party APIs, and external platforms into existing applications.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, consistency, and performance.
• Develop and deploy applications within cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
• Implement automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing where appropriate.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment processes, and modern DevOps practices.
• Ensure applications meet high standards of security, performance, availability, and maintainability.
• Apply secure coding practices when handling sensitive financial information and customer data.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and support production systems.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, sprint planning, and agile development ceremonies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Take ownership of assigned features and projects from initial design through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Contribute to technical documentation, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience

Front-End Development

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using React and TypeScript.
• Experience building reusable components and maintainable front-end architectures.
• Understanding of state management, API integration, responsive design, and front-end performance optimisation.
• Ability to deliver intuitive and reliable user experiences.
• Strong commercial experience with Node.js and backend application development.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs.
• Experience developing and maintaining microservices or distributed applications.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorisation, API security, and error handling.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, data structures, and clean coding practices.

Cloud and DevOps

• Experience working with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative source control workflows.
• Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure-as-code tools would be beneficial.

Databases

• Strong understanding of SQL databases and relational data modelling.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and document-oriented or key-value data stores.
• Knowledge of database optimisation, indexing, query performance, and data integrity.
• Ability to select appropriate data storage solutions based on application requirements.

Testing and Software Quality

• Experience implementing automated testing strategies.
• Knowledge of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
