Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) Unit TI2

We are the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG). We make sure that your navigation system always finds the right way and provide Germany with geodata. Our products are the problem solvers for the environment, climate, safety and infrastructure and support the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and the Federal Police, among others in carrying out their tasks.

For our team in the TI2 division we are looking for the earliest possible date in Leipzig or Frankfurt a. M. and for an indefinite period of time.

Cloud Engineer (m/f/d)

Pay group 11 TVöD (federal government); reference number: TI2/03/2025

Your tasks are:

• Administration, monitoring and further development of cloud environments (private/hybrid/public), including for microservice-based applications and applications in the field of artificial intelligence
• Transfer and further development of existing Dev(Sec)Ops concepts to cloud platforms
• Advising other (specialist) units on the provision of software in container or cloud environments

You bring with you:

• Degree (FH/Bachelor) in (business) informatics, data science or a comparable degree with a significant IT focus
• Alternatively, completed vocational training related to IT and subsequent proven professional experience in a comparable professional field of at least 4 years
• Very good knowledge of containers and cloud orchestration in Linux environments, ideally for Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes
• Initial experience in cloud-related technologies (e.g. GitLab, Sonatype Nexus, Ansible or similar)
• Knowledge of programming languages and runtimes (Java, Python, SQL, Node.JS), software architectures and development models (Scrum, DevSecOps) and practical experience in hardening systems in accordance with IT-Grundschutz are advantageous
• Experience in dealing with cloud services of public hyperscalers such as AWS is also advantageous

• Good oral and written communication skills in the German language (at least B2 level)
• Good organizational skills and enjoy working in a team
• Independent, structured way of working
• Successful security clearance SÜ2 – sabotage protection in accordance with the Security Clearance Act or willingness to carry out this clearance
• Willingness to undertake occasional business trips
