Senior Renewables Energy Project Engineer Vienna

Job Summary As Senior Renewables Energy Project Engineer based in Vienna, you will join the Engineering & Construction team! In this role, you will report to Global Wind Leader, and you will hold a relevant position in the company with a threefold responsibility involved in three different processes which altogether contribute to the company’s growth: Deliver technical expertise and managerial support for greenfield projects, for projects under construction and in operation.

On the one hand you will be accountable for delivering technical expertise supporting development of greenfield wind projects across Europe:

Proposal and validation of design of wind measurement campaigns

Wind resource assessment and Energy Yield Assessment

Preliminary site suitability studies including but not limited to road surveys

Assessment of maturity of projects

Management of contractors

You Will Also Be Accountable For Delivering Technical Expertise Supporting TDD Processes In M&A Transactions For Assets Under Construction And In Operation

Definition of SoW to contract technical studies and TDD with independent third parties

Assess historical track record

Liaise with O&M to assess the performance of the assets under consideration

Assessment of contracts for supply of equipment

Management of contractors

Finally, the duty of leading the engineering and technical development of utility‑scale Renewable Energy projects (mainly WIND but also opportunities to develop BESS and SOLAR projects) from design to execution, ensuring optimized, compliant, and cost‑effective solutions.

Generation and keep of project schedule

Definition of SoW to contract site surveys

Definition of SoW to contract technical studies

Definition of SoW to contract Engineering design works

Purchase order specifications to activate external engineering support.

Support tendering processes: Confirmation of Employer’s Requirements, review of offers, technical alignment of offers with contractors and preliminary negotiations.

Liaise with internal relevant departments withing ContourGlobal for proper decision making with all the technical details accounted for and quantified.

Generation of the Project Assumption Book and sign off

Monitoring and review of technical documents issued by EPC supplier contractors, ensuring design compliance with company’s specifications and engineering best practices.

Qualifications And Skills Your profile is a natural match if you have:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical or electronic is preferable)

Experience: 10+ years of experience in energy sector projects, 6 plus years’ experience in the design and implementation of Wind as Project Engineer (Technical Project Manager).

Skills: Fluent in German and English (written and spoken), excellent communication, team leading, decision‑making, innovation, focus on results, able to give and receive feedback. Other languages such as German, Italian or Spanish will be highly valued.

Technical competencies:

Knowledge of WIND and further BESS technologies. Additional knowledge of SOLAR technology is a plus.

Acquainted with applicable industry standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA, IEC, DNV, IEEE).

Capex and Opex estimation.

Advanced knowledge of the plant design process from the feasibility phase (conceptual design), development phase (Basic Design) and execution phase (For Construction Design)

GIS capabilities is a plus

Knowledge of HV, MV and LV infrastructures and main equipment.

Travel requirements: This role requires frequent national & international travels. Availability to attend site inspections, technical meetings, and engineering reviews is required

What Drives Your Application Forward

A master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or similar is highly valued.

Certifications in EMS, PPC, power electronics, or grid integration are a plus.

Demonstrated experience integrating storage systems with renewable assets.

Proven ability to lead technical teams in multidisciplinary project environments.

Ability to lead technical discussions with international suppliers, clients, and partners.
