Solutions Architect – Data Centre Security & Critical Infrastructure (Germany)

Reports to: Design Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead the design, technical consulting, and solution development of physical security and low-voltage systems for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centre projects throughout Germany.
This role combines technical expertise, customer consulting, and engineering leadership. Acting as a trusted advisor to customers, consultants, general contractors and internal project teams, you will be responsible for developing innovative, compliant and scalable security solutions that support some of the most critical digital infrastructure projects in Europe.
The successful candidate will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle, from early-stage customer engagement and solution development through to delivery support and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of integrated physical security and low-voltage solutions for hyperscale and enterprise data centre environments.
- Create and review system architectures, technical concepts, design documentation and engineering deliverables.
- Ensure designs comply with client requirements, German regulations, VdS standards, EN standards and industry best practices.
- Develop repeatable and scalable design standards that support consistent project delivery across Germany and Europe.
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex customer solutions.
Customer Consulting & Technical Advisory
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to strategic customers and stakeholders.
- Understand customer business objectives, operational requirements and risk profiles.
- Translate customer needs into practical and commercially effective technical solutions.
- Lead technical workshops, design reviews and solution discussions with customers, consultants and project partners.
- Support innovation initiatives and emerging technology evaluation within the data centre sector.
Project Support & Technical Governance
- Provide technical leadership throughout project execution.
- Support engineering and project teams during detailed design, construction and commissioning phases.
- Review RFIs, design changes, technical submittals and engineering documentation.
- Assist with resolving complex technical and coordination challenges.
- Ensure engineering quality, consistency and compliance throughout project delivery.
Business Development & Opportunity Support
- Support business development activities through technical expertise and customer engagement.
- Contribute to tender responses, technical proposals and solution presentations.
- Review customer specifications and requirements.
- Support solution costing and risk assessment activities.
- Develop Bills of Materials and high-level technical designs for proposed solutions.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, methodologies and best practices.
- Mentor engineers and support technical capability development.
- Drive continuous improvement and standardisation initiatives.
- Contribute to innovation and technology strategy within the German business.
Technical Expertise
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Physical Security Systems (PSIM)
- Access Control Systems
- Video Management Systems (VMS)
- CCTV Solutions
- Intercom & Communication Systems
- Structured Cabling Systems
- Network Infrastructure
- BIM/Revit Coordination
- Data Centre Security Architecture
Preferred experience with platforms such as:
- LenelS2
- CCURE
- Milestone
- Axis Communications
- HID
Experience & Background:
- Eexperience in designing or architecting integrated security solutions within mission-critical environments.
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation or enterprise data centre projects.
- Strong understanding of project delivery within complex construction environments.
- Experience engaging directly with customers, consultants and contractors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Fluent German and English language skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working with hyperscale operators such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta or similar organisations.
- Knowledge of German planning, construction and approval processes.
- Understanding of DIN, EN, VdS and relevant German regulatory requirements.
- Experience with BIM and digital design coordination environments.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Security Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- VdS certifications.
- Security industry certifications and continuing professional education.
