Purpose of the Position
We are seeking a hands‑on, technically driven process engineer to support the development of assembly process in the field of micro‑optics related to co‑packaged optics. The role is embedded in the Technology and New Product Introduction (NPI) environment, focusing on prototype setups, pilot lines, and early‑stage manufacturing systems where processes are still evolving and require fast iteration and validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key interface between product design, system engineering, and prototype machine/setup execution, ensuring that assembly, alignment, and test processes are translated into flexible, robust, and scalable solutions and drive new product introductions from prototype to mass production.
- Act as process developer in cross‑functional teams to prototype, develop, test, and release products and processes in an NPI environment.
- Own key alignment and assembly setups, lead their continuous improvement, and establish early‑stage pilot line assembly at small scale.
- Apply structured problem‑solving methods (FMEA, DMAIC, DoE, KT).
- Select components and develop processes based on customer requirements.
- Document process development to enable effective handover to engineering and seamless transfer into mass production.
- Stay current with fiber optic technologies and advanced metrology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, electronics, materials science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in a related or similar technology field.
- Proven success in NPI projects from initial prototype to mass production.
- Strong hands‑on and R&D skills in building prototypes, troubleshooting, and sample preparation.
- Knowledge in mechanical or optomechanical assembly technology or advanced precision alignment and bonding.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and Six Sigma tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with optical fiber, fiber array units, or co‑packaged optics.
- Demonstrated success in implementing automation solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across regional and cultural boundaries.
- Familiar with tools: Jump, Python, SQL, Vision systems.
