We are looking for an experienced leader to drive Covestro’s public affairs strategy in Germany and manage our Berlin Liaison Office. This role is essential in shaping policies, ensuring regulatory stability, and protecting Covestro’s competitive position, with a key focus on energy and climate policy. You will work closely with government officials, industry associations, and policy stakeholders to advocate for Covestro’s interests and mitigate regulatory risks that could impact multi-billion-euro operations.

In addition to our diverse benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary between €128,400.00/year and €160,500.00/year plus a variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary is based on your qualifications and professional experience.

Geographical Scope

• Primary focus on Germany, with strong influence on EU regulations.
• Global coordination on energy and climate policies.
• Engagement with foreign diplomatic representations in Berlin.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, analyze, and influence national and EU policy developments to secure a stable and competitive business environment.
• Develop and execute Covestro’s global energy and climate policy strategy, ensuring alignment across markets.
• Advise the Board of Management on political and policy concerns and support the CEO’s engagement with the VCI Board and Präsidium.
• Build and strengthen relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, and regulatory bodies.
• Represent Covestro in industry associations, ensuring high-level executive positioning.
• Lead and develop the Berlin-based Public Affairs team, while managing external consultants and partners.
• Oversee budget management, compliance, and strategic industry association memberships.

Your Profile:

• University degree in science, engineering, political science, public administration, business or law.
• 10+ years of experience in government relations, with expertise in chemical, energy, or materials science policy.
• Deep understanding of the German and EU legislative landscape and regulatory decision-making.
• Established network within government, industry, and policy circles.
• Strong analytical skills to assess business impact and mitigate policy risks.
• Proven leadership experience in managing teams and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills to represent Covestro’s interests effectively.
• Fluent in German (native level) and English with the highest standards of integrity and governance.
