Facing the challenges of our time

The Quantum tech group of your Instrumentation Business Unit based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland is looking for a R&D Engineer in Quantum Technologies.

Your mission

Contribute to multidisciplinary industrial and research projects, develop innovative solutions and participate in the R&D efforts in the field of quantum technologies such as quantum sensors and atomic clocks developments based on hot vapors and/or NV centers.

Your responsibilities

  • Technical execution of R&D projects including laboratory work, design, simulation and analysis in the field of miniature quantum sensors (optically pumped magnetometers, RF sensors, etc.) and/or atomic clocks.
  • Continuously keep aware of the state of the art in the field.
  • Contribution to the acquisition of industrial and publicly funded projects (publications, participation to visits, offer writing, etc.).
  • Contribution to the management of various projects (management of specific work packages, technical execution, etc.).
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with our partners and participate in customer meetings, maintaining and developing internal and external professional networks.
  • Represent CSEM in workshops or conferences.

Your profile

Know-how

  • Superior level of education (MSc, PhD) with >5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Technical knowledge in the following domains:
    • Quantum atomic sensors development and testing.
    • System design and integration.
    • Atomic clocks, time and frequency and metrology.
    • Laser stabilization and optical spectroscopy.
    • Simulation (e.g. with PYTHON or relevant software).
    • Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks) a plus. Experience in project management is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of rules, processes and activities specific to the job.
