This role is pivotal in characterising the pharmacological profile of novel therapeutic candidates through internal studies and external collaborations.Main ResponsibilitiesScientific Leadership Define and lead the nonclinical pharmacology strategy for discovery and development programs within the relevant therapeutic area (Cardiovascular and/or Renal)Design and oversee in vivo efficacy, pharmacodynamic (PD), and mechanism-of-action studies in relevant animal modelsGuide the selection and validation of disease models that best represent human pathophysiologyStudy Design & Execution Develop and implement study protocols for pharmacology, target engagement, and biomarker evaluationSelect external collaborators or CROs and collaborate with internal teams, academic collaborators or CROs to ensure high-quality and timely execution of pharmacology studiesAnalyze and interpret complex data sets to inform compound progression and candidate selectionCross-Functional Collaboration Act as Sr. Pharmacology lead on TA teamsWork closely with PK, Toxicology, Translational Science, to integrate pharmacology data into broader development plansParticipate in project teams and TA-teams and provide expert input on pharmacology-related issuesProvide expert input into due diligence for in-licensing or partnership opportunitiesDocumentation & Communication Prepare study reports, presentations, and regulatory documents (e.g., IND, CTA)Present findings to internal stakeholders and external collaborators as neededTeam LeadershipLead and mentor a team of Principal and Sr. scientists, incl. in-vivo lab workFoster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and continuous learningQualifications and Experience RequirementsPh.D. in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field10+ years of experience in nonclinical pharmacology within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or academic background with proven and deep understanding of pharmaceutical developmentStrong expertise in in vivo pharmacology, disease models, and translational science for the relevant TA (Cardiovascular and/or Renal Disease Biology)Familiarity with regulatory expectations for nonclinical pharmacology dataProven ability to manage multiple projects and timelinesStrategic thinker with excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities is highly desirableExtensive knowledge in one of Cardiovascular or Renal Biology is essential; both would be viewed highly favorablyAre you interested?
