The position holder is a member of the Project Engineering Leadership team.
The position holder is responsible and accountable for the management of a portfolio of CAPEX projects in Bulk Fractionation or Fill Finish or Utilities & Infrastructure within the site Engineering team. The projects typically are brownfield projects, and small ( The responsibility covers the full delivery of projects from feasibility to planning, execution and qualification/validation.
Responsibilities
Screening of incoming business ideas and developing an appropriate project execution strategy.
Preparing, submitting and presenting funding requests in different committees.
Ensuring staffing of the projects.
Coaching and guiding internal and external project managers.
Providing leadership as part of the Project Engineering team and managing the interfaces with project Sponsor, stakeholders, cross functional teams & customers.
Participation in program meetings, progress review meetings, steering committee meetings
Addressing escalations and implement appropriate mitigations for risks affecting the project delivery.
Ensuring projects are following the CSL stage gate methodology and the CSL engineering standards.
Responsible for requests for quotations and contracts with engineering partners.
Using Clarity as companywide portfolio and project reporting tool.
Ensuring projects are executed in accordance with GMP and EHS regulations and guidelines and construction activities are delivered using the CSL permitting system
Qualifications
MS/MBA/BS/BA in Engineering, Business Administration or Life Sciences preferred or local equivalent.
10-15 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry including direct management experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality Assurance
Experienced in leading multi-disciplinary project teams through project life cycle activities to deliver capacity expansion capabilities to meet global and local strategic requirements
Strong experience in all CAPEX project activities required to scope, develop, procure, construct and qualify new equipment and facilities required to meet facility production throughput demands
Ability to handle many projects simultaneously and integrate project planning efforts across functions
Experience in brownfield projects / projects implemented within shutdowns.
Strong management skills. Experience in responsibility for internal and external resources
Understanding project management principles and project lifecycle phase. Knowledge of Validation, CMC and facility regulatory submission requirements
Strong experience in generation of regular project reports (financial updates, project schedules, risks and summary of current activities) for senior site management and Global Steering Committees
Financial experience with high level of budgetary responsibilities
Experienced in initiatives that are aligned with the business’ objectives and strategic philosophy
Ability to understand “the big picture” and approach problem solving in a proactive team manner
Functional knowledge of cGMPs and manufacturing operations in regulated facilities for worldwide markets as well as strong experience in providing cGMP compliant processes and facilities suitable for FDA and global regulatory approval. Understanding Annex 1.
Fluent English language skills
German language skills at level C1 or higher
