We are looking for a “ Load and Performance Engineer” to design, execute, analyze, and report performance tests for the ZONOS ecosystem with it’s modules/Connectors related to MDM & HES ,
APIs, streaming services, databases, and integration components.
The engineer will define realistic load profiles, simulate production-like traffic, identify bottlenecks, measure system capacity, and provide performance recommendations before release or customer deployment.
What is the role about?
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute load, stress, scalability, spike, and failover performance tests for HES/MDM product
Create realistic test scenarios covering:
- ZONOS API and Southbound API
- VEE processing
- MDUS / data ingestion flows
- Device events, alarms, meter reads, topology, and profile data
- Kafka/streaming pipelines
- Database-heavy operations
- ZCP user workflows where relevant
Define performance KPIs such as
- response time
- throughput
- transactions per second
- message ingestion rate
- processing latency
- CPU/memory usage
- database load
- Kafka lag
- error rate
- queue depth
Maintain load test scripts using tools such as “ JMeter, k6, Simulator and Mock serve” .
Monitor performance using tools such as “ Prometheus, Grafana”.
Analyze bottlenecks across
- APIs
- database queries
- Kafka topics/partitions
- backend services
- VEE jobs
- process engine
- network and infrastructure
- JVM/container resources
Prepare detailed performance reports with findings, risks, recommendations, comparison with previous versions and release readiness conclusions.
Work with QA, Dev Ops, backend developers, product owners, and customer delivery teams to define acceptance criteria and performance baselines.
Required skills and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in performance testing, load testing, or performance engineering.
Had experience in the Energy Management utility (Meter data management, HES ….)
Strong understanding of:
- REST APIs
- authentication flows
- asynchronous processing
- queues and event streaming
- distributed systems
- microservices performance behavior
Experience with monitoring and observability
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- JVM or container metrics
Good knowledge of databases and query performance, preferably in addition to good knowledge about system setup:
- Postgre SQL
- Oracle
Experience testing high-volume data ingestion, messaging, or Io T/AMI/utility platforms is highly preferred.
Ability to analyze logs, metrics, traces, and system behavior under load.
Strong scripting skills in at least one language
