Associate – Sustainability Advisory

Job Description Summary

Cushman & Wakefield’s EMEA ESG Advisory team is looking for an experienced Consultant on Associate level in Germany to support development and implementation of sustainability solutions for our pan European clients (Investors & Corporate Occupiers). As a Sr. Consultant, you will be delivering ESG reporting services (specifically GRESB and SFDR) for pan European clients and undertaking carbon accounting (scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories) within the real estate sector. You will be working to improve our client’s ESG performance, supporting achieve net-zero objectives and other key ESG performance indicators and be expected to monitor and report progress and trends, supporting continuous improvement.

We want our associate to be a key point of contact for client engagements and will be crucial in maintaining client satisfaction and growth for key clients. The associate will also collaborate with our wider real estate business both in EMEA and globally to develop innovative solutions to accelerate progress toward our clients‘ ambitious ESG goals at the corporate, portfolio, and/or asset levels.

Job Description

Competencies and Experience

  • Has demonstrable expertise in reporting (specifically GRESB and with experience of SFDR) and environmental (social) indicator accounting.
  • Good knowledge of relevant standards from the GHG accounting (The GHG Protocol), sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks (GRESB, SFDR, TCFD, etc.) and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • Working knowledge of EU regulatory compliance frameworks and deep understanding of the Germany regulatory context regarding ESG.
  • Knowledge and understanding of investment planning for ESG improvement at an asset & portfolio level, with knowledge decarbonization planning and physical climate risk.
  • Experience in integrating ESG into the real estate sector, which includes tracking, monitoring, and reporting progress towards goals.
  • Managing and communicating with multiple stakeholders including asset management, corporate real estate teams, property managers, facility manager and tenants.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ESG data collection methods with competency to support improve data completeness and accuracy for reporting and management purposes.
  • Versatility and ability to multi-task, work independently and collaboratively in a global work environment with diverse skillsets and cultures.
  • Possess a positive attitude with a flexible and responsive approach to problem solving.

Business Development and Client Management Activities

  • Experience of serving clients successfully and delivering a positive client experience.
  • Capability to support decarbonization solutions including carbon accounting (scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories), net-zero strategy and roadmap development.
  • Be accountable for operational excellence and engagement within your areas of influence.
  • Manage delivery of client work products while managing & supporting team members assigned to the project.
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with clients and/or business partners.
  • Foster new business opportunities within existing clients – working with the client to establish new opportunities.
  • Support new business development campaigns, proposals and pitches.

Teamwork and Organization

  • Effective collaboration across different departments and geographies to identify and work with a range of colleagues.
  • Be instrumental in developing sustainability advisory services to pan European clients.
  • Proactively support carbon accounting and reporting best practices across our business.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in subjects such environmental science, engineering, climate change, sustainability or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience working in cross-border teams.
  • Language German with proficiency in English.
  • Has 6-8+ Years (Associate) of sustainability within real estate experience.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience making presentations to clients and their stakeholders – conveying complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications.
