We are looking for a (Senior) Software Engineer (m/f/d) – Image Processing / AI to join our headquarters inFreiburg im Breisgau, Germany and to become part of our interdisciplinary Product Development team , that is building next generation lab automation utilizing leading edge technology.

Responsibilities

• Drive the design and development of cutting-edge software for our next-generation cell line development solutions
• Innovate and enhance computer vision and image processing algorithms, including autofocus features, single-cell identification, and development of more sophisticated AI based analysis algorithms to advance the degree of automation of our products
• Mentor junior team members, fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment to enhance team capabilities.
• Collaborate closely within an interdisciplinary team, bridging the gap between software engineering, hardware innovation, and biological research to create seamless, integrated solutions.

You will actively collaborate within our Product Development team as well as other stakeholder to shape our next generation products with your ideas and concepts. Each day, you\’ll encounter a variety of tasks and new challenges, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a strong academic record.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with OpenCV and classical image processing algorithms.
• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, deep learning architectures (CNNs, RNNs, etc.), and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• A passion for collaborative work and a proven track record of contributing to teams using agile development methodologies
• A solid understanding of DevOps practices and modern software development techniques, with experience in applying these methods to real-world projects.
• High motivation and a proactive attitude towards learning new technologies, with the ability to adapt quickly to evolving technical landscapes.
• Good English communication skills, both in writing and speaking, necessary for effective team collaboration and documentation.
