Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day laboratory operations and act as the primary point of contact for all facility inquiries, supporting the R&D team so they can focus on science
Take ownership of the lab's physical infrastructure, incl. electrical, gas, and storage set‑ups, and proactively plan infrastructure improvements
Ensure strict compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards, incl. operation under BSL‑2 requirements, occupational health standards and proper chemical and biological waste management
Develop and enforce lab safety protocols, SOP’s, and rigorous hygiene and cleanliness standards across all workspaces and equipment
Manage all lab devices by maintaining an up‑to‑date overview, coordinating maintenance schedules, handling repairs, and overseeing service contracts
Develop and maintain validation and qualification procedures for autonomous lab automation systems
Handle procurement and track inventory to ensure the continuous availability of lab consumables, reagents, and chemicals
Control laboratory access and after‑hours policies to maintain safety and accountability across the team
Your Profile
Several years of hands‑on cell biology lab experience, with a proven track record in BSL‑2 lab management and operations
BSc/MSc in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field, or completed vocational training as a Laboratory Technician
Swiss certification in "BSO Biosafety level 2 – Course for Biosafety Officers" incl. strong knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols (EHS), biosafety guidelines (BSL‑2), and SOP's
Experience maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting standard and advanced laboratory equipment
Highly organized problem‑solver who anticipates bottlenecks, optimizes workflows, and actively drives lab efficiency rather than just maintaining the status quo
Strong team player with excellent communication skills to interface effectively with R&D scientists, suppliers, and automation team
Business fluency in both English and German is strictly required
Our Offer
Real ownership and direct impact on the operational success of our lab and broader business
The opportunity to shape the infrastructure and safety culture of a cutting‑edge cell engineering facility
A structured goal setting and execution framework based on Objectives and Key Results (OKR's)
