Dartmouth Partners is working with a growing Private equity firm to find a Financial Controller for their Frankfurt office.
As Financial Controller , you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the firm and its investment entities. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and supporting the firm’s investment and portfolio activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all financial accounting and reporting for the management company and investment vehicles.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and investor reporting packs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. IFRS/UK GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Manage fund-level accounting, including capital calls, distributions, and fee calculations.
- Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity across entities, including forecasting and treasury management.
- Improve financial controls, systems, and processes to support scale and efficiency.
- Provide financial input on deal structuring and portfolio company performance tracking.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for both the firm and funds.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), ideally Big 4 trained.
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with at least 2–3 years in a fund or PE environment.
- Strong technical accounting and fund reporting skills.
- Hands-on and proactive with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience managing small teams and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of fund structures, carried interest, and investor reporting.
- Commercially minded and comfortable in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting.
