Darwin Recruitment are currently hiring for an RF Engineer on behalf of a company in Germany that was founded in 2018 that focuses on developing next-generation rockets to provide sustainable access to space for small and medium-sized satellites and satellite constellations. Their primary launch vehicle, the Spectrum rocket, is a two-stage, liquid-fueled rocket designed to deliver payloads of up to 1,000 kilograms into low Earth orbit.

You will be an integral part of the AGNC-Avionics team who designs, tests and verifies Spectrum’s Avionics systems. Your core work will revolve around the development & testing of our on-board Avionics systems, with focus on the Radio Frequency system. You will develop, test and operate Radio Frequency subsystems, managing the associated technical interfaces and taking ownership of relevant avionics units. The role will be dynamic, working across the team on your adjacent fields, coming up with technical solutions, implementations and test setups. Interdisciplinary tasks, continuous improvement of units and test rigs, as well as supporting your colleagues in your field of expertise are your daily business, and you thrive in that kind of environment.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

  1. Own the design, qualification and testing of Radio Frequency subsystems (i.e. antennas, transmitters, GNSS receivers)
  2. Develop and automate Radio Frequency system test setups
  3. Take ownership of the design, layout and testing of in-house developed PCBs and/or Avionics units
  4. Define/review requirements of our in-house developed units and their associated test setups, with focus on automation
  5. Define requirements and test plans, to execute environmental qualification & acceptance test campaigns
  6. Perform on-field Avionics tests campaigns, such as stage check-outs & testing
  7. Work on various electronics design and test related ad-hoc tasks, across the team

Qualification Checklist

  1. BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or comparable
  2. Exceptional knowledge of radiofrequency systems and wireless communications, preferably in space applications
  3. Experience with GNSS receivers in aerospace applications
  4. Enhanced knowledge of analog & digital electronics
  5. Experience with testing operations (functional, environmental, field testing)
  6. Good knowledge of automation principles & electronic test setups
  7. Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  8. Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  9. Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  10. Fluent in English
