AdTech Engineer (m/f/d) in Gräfelfing

Gräfelfing Vollzeit Homeoffice
Datascale One GmbH

You know Google Ads, Campaign Manager 360 and the conversions APIs from the inside, technically, not from media planning. Here you build the measurement and the data flows that our clients' campaigns run on. 100 % remote, full-time or part-time, permanent or freelance. Business-fluent German is mandatory, because the client work runs in German.

Salary: €65,000 to €85,000 gross per year for full-time, depending on experience within the range. Part-time pro rata. Also open to freelance, day rate by agreement.

Datascale does not run campaigns. We build the technology that makes campaigns measurable: Enhanced Conversions, Meta Conversions API, offline conversion import from the CRM, Floodlight setups in Campaign Manager 360, consent signals all the way into the ad platform. As AdTech Engineer you own this part of the architecture.

A typical case: Google Ads reports more conversions than the CRM, Meta reports different numbers again. You find the point where the signals diverge and build the data flow that ends it: server-side, first-party, with a consent signal and a match quality you can show to the client.

The campaigns are steered by the clients' performance teams and agencies. You give them the signals that make steering work in the first place.

Elsewhere this role is called AdTech Specialist, Marketing Technology Engineer, Conversion Tracking Specialist or Google Marketing Platform Consultant. It is the same work.

Responsibilities

  • Set up conversion tracking for Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok server-side: Enhanced Conversions, conversions API, offline conversion import
  • Configure the Google Marketing Platform: Floodlight in Campaign Manager 360, links to GA4, DV360 and SA360, attribution that can be traced
  • Pass consent signals from the CMP through to the ad platforms and check what actually happens when consent is missing
  • Analyse discrepancies between platform reporting, GA4 and the CRM, then fix the cause instead of explaining it
  • Connect product feeds and Customer Match uploads on the technical side, with hashing and a deletion concept
  • Brief clients and their agencies: tagging plans, acceptance, documentation

What you bring

  • At least three years on the technical side of ad platforms: tagging, conversion tracking, APIs, no campaign management
  • Google Ads and Campaign Manager 360 including Floodlight configured in production
  • At least one conversions API (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok) connected yourself, ideally through server-side GTM
  • Confident in Google Tag Manager, server-side GTM at least read and tested
  • An understanding of how Consent Mode V2, modelling and match rate change the numbers in the platform
  • You use LLMs for platform documentation, hashing scripts and discrepancy analysis, and you decide yourself which of it may go to production
  • Business-fluent German (C1 or better) is mandatory, for client calls. English for platform documentation and support tickets
  • Resident in Germany with a valid work permit at the start date, both mandatory

Nice to have

  • DV360 and SA360 from practice, not only from the certification
  • SQL on Ads or GA4 data in BigQuery, Data Transfer Service
  • Experience with consent management platforms (Usercentrics, OneTrust) and TCF 2.2
  • Amazon Ads, Microsoft Advertising or Adobe Advertising as further platforms
  • HubSpot or Salesforce as the source for offline conversions and Customer Match
  • Product feeds from Shopware or Shopify into Merchant Center

What Datascale offers

  • Direct client contact without an account-manager firewall
  • Architecture decisions are made in the team, in a week rather than a quarter
  • Our own stack, run in public at /open: BigQuery EU, sGTM, Plausible CE
  • 100 % remote, full-time or part-time, client meetings mostly by call
  • No time tracking in 15-minute increments
  • Hardware of your choice, training of your choice
  • 30 days of annual leave for full-time, pro rata for part-time
  • One industry conference per year, Superweek, MeasureCamp or comparable, travel included
  • After the probation period: employer contribution to the company pension scheme (bAV) and €50 per month via Belonio, spent as you choose
  • Further benefits by agreement

Technology, not media buying. This is not an ads-ops role. Bids, budgets and creative stay with the client. We are looking for someone who reads Floodlight configurations the way others read the paper, follows conversion discrepancies to their cause, and knows why Enhanced Conversions are useless without a clean consent signal.
