Senior Principal Software Engineer - Logistics

We are looking for a (Senior) Principal Software Engineer to join the Customer Logistics leadership team to help make last mile delivery look easy. Logistics is a global service and last mile delivery product that\’s at the heart of Delivery Hero\’s business and its careful integration into many distinct customer brands and applications is what lets the company simultaneously harness both local autonomy and centralized scale. Reporting directly to the Vice President of the Logistics Customer Product Line, you\’ll be working with engineering and product leaders across the company to set technical strategy and deliver innovative customer-centric products that scale.

Responsibilities:

1. Help set companywide tech and product strategy by drawing on your deep technical insight, clear analysis, and excellent storytelling.
2. Make hands-on contributions to demonstrate what\’s possible with last mile delivery and set the direction of the company\’s most important product bets.
3. Serve as a role model of engineering excellence and elevate the function across the company through your example and mentorship.
4. Lead expert groups both within Logistics and across the company to better harness the talent of our most experienced engineers.
5. Be a visible representative of Delivery Hero in the wider tech community and help draw from and contribute to world-class engineering practices.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of ten years of experience in software engineering and a long track record of shipping large-scale consumer products.
2. Passionate about crafting simple solutions to complex engineering problems and writing readable, maintainable, well-tested code.
3. Substantial expertise architecting and operating distributed backend systems that are easy to evolve and operate and which are both highly reliable and cost efficient.
4. Excellent storytelling and facility at tailoring technical communication to audiences of varying degrees of experience.
5. Ease at navigating and influencing large organizations with varied and cross-functional stakeholders.
6. An ability to lead through others and develop other senior individual contributors into greater levels of impact.

Nice to have:

1. Substantial mobile architecture and development experience on iOS and Android.
2. Background in machine learning engineering, data engineering, and data science.
3. Deep familiarity with the logistics domain and products that make heavy use of geospatial data and maps.
