Brief Job Description:
This position serves as a SharePoint Systems Administrator III, reporting to the Director of Operations in IT Administrative Applications. The SharePoint Systems Administrator III provides operational support of Microsoft SharePoint. Key responsibilities include the creation and management of sites and site collections, user permissions, troubleshooting, and responding to customer incidents. The role will perform content migrations and perform workflow automation support. The position manages and assists user access, security groups, site permissions, and data loss prevention policies. The position configures and supports libraries, as well as content types. This role provides TIER II/III support, troubleshooting system errors, and training users. Work is performed in a team environment and with minimal supervision and extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in carrying out the job functions and the mission of Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to support and improve existing systems. On-call work may be required to respond to emergency situations.
Must be willing to work from an HHS office designated by the hiring manager 3, or more, days per week located in Austin, TX.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Performs operational support of SharePoint, including user access, permissions management, creation of new sites, content migrations, development of new site features, and escalates issues as appropriate. (35%)
Communicates with various levels of customers and leadership regularly on problems and challenges thereby creating a cycle of continuous improvement. Ensures that all customer needs are promptly addressed, and questions and concerns are responded to in a timely manner while exercising the highest level of service and quality. Meets with the team regularly and projects a positive can-do atmosphere. Performs timely response to incidents and closures of tickets. (20%)
Collaborates with the SharePoint Operations Lead and team members to support SharePoint solutions that address business needs, opportunities, and proposes and implements changes that make the SharePoint environment a more effective solution for the HHS Enterprise. Completes tasks accurately and within assigned deadlines. Creates and maintains support documentation. (20%)
Assists in the support of tasks related to the evaluation and deployment of new SharePoint sites, features, upgrades, and third-party solutions. Uses standards as adopted by the SharePoint team, HHSC IT, including continuous positive improvement methods. Participates in Agile and Scrum activities. Provides emergency support as-needed, including after-hour support, if required. (20%)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in SharePoint Online/M365.
Managing permissions, user access, and security groups.
Knowledge of Power Platform canvas apps and Power Automate flows.
Knowledge of security standards, Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
Experience in migrating data from traditional file shares and from within SharePoint sites.
PowerShell scripting for the automation of tasks, reporting, and maintenance.
Diagnosing and solving user issues, performance bottlenecks, and system errors.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and document processes.
Strong analytical thinking to solve issues under pressure.
Ability to stay current with rapidly evolving Microsoft 365 features.
Providing guidance to end-users and power users.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements, or Certifications:
Preferred but not required:
Microsoft 365 Certified: Teamwork Administrator Associate
Initial Screening Criteria:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field is preferred. Education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum of 4 (four) years of IT experience.
Minimum of 4 (four) years of SharePoint Administration experience.
