Duties

  • Establish Do WEA educator performance elements and evaluate teacher work.
  • Serve as the responsible officer for all government‑owned or leased property assigned to the school.
  • Gather and analyze student achievement and other related data to inform the decision‑making process, especially regarding school improvement efforts.
  • Initiate communications between school administration, students, teachers, parents, the local community, and base offices that provide services to the school and/or staff.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
  • Proof of U. S. citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Two‑year probation period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • One‑year supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires a Tier 3 (T3) investigation with Childcare Checks because duties involve interaction with children and youth under 18 years of age.
  • You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any Do WEA location.

  • Individuals hired from the CONUS and their family members (U. S. citizens) are required to obtain official passports prior to departure to the overseas area.

Qualifications

Who may apply: U. S. citizens and current Do DEA personnel.

To qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below.

Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work done through National Service programs (e. g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations.

All qualifying experience is credited.

If qualifying based on education, transcripts are required as part of the application.

State or Territory Certification / License

A fully professional, unencumbered state teaching license in the relevant content area, or the state’s equivalent as recognized by Do DEA, satisfies all qualifications for professional teaching education and certification.

A Praxis I and II or seven years of Pre‑K‑12 teaching may substitute for an unencumbered license and will require meeting all minimum education requirements, a student‑teaching/internship, and full qualification standards.

Applicants claiming military spouse preference under the MSLRA will receive consideration for an encumbered license.

Education

The coursework must have been completed at a regionally accredited U.

S. college or university.

Applicants must provide official bachelor’s and master’s transcripts (include EDS and Doctorate if applicable).

Acceptable degree pathways include

  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership.
  • Master’s degree reflecting 30 semester hours of graduate coursework, of which a minimum of 20 semester hours are in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership.

Applicants who submit a valid, unencumbered, fully professional administrator license comparable to a Do WEA Assistant Principal and issued by a U.

S. state board of education or the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards will be considered to have fulfilled the semester hour requirement for Educational Administration/Leadership.

General experience: A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching, specialist, or other professional educator experience at the Pre‑K‑12 level is required.

Foreign Education

Foreign degrees and coursework from non‑accredited institutions must be evaluated prior to acceptance. Acceptable evaluation procedures include:

  • The work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231‑3665.
  • The foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or by a state department of education for teacher certification purposes.

This requires an English translation of the transcript and a document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list from an American university or state department of education.

  • The work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared equivalent to similar U. S. undergraduate or graduate work.

Graduates of non‑accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admission to graduate school and completion of a minimum of five semester hours of credit at a regionally accredited graduate college.

Failure to provide all required information may result in an ineligible rating or affect overall rating.

  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the applicable regulations.
  • Applicants must be U. S. citizens who are not considered ordinarily resident under the applicable Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
  • Applicants with family members who have special medical needs must ensure that those needs can be met prior to accepting a position overseas; host‑nation medical facilities may be the only care available.
  • Employees and family members requiring medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care.

Overseas allowances may be authorized in accordance with Department of State regulations and Do DI volumes.
