Duties

  • Provide assistance with student registration.
  • Develop standard responses for inquiries or requests for information.
  • Manage incoming correspondence to ensure proper distribution.
  • Manage data in a student information management system.
  • Collect and transfer grades into a student information system.
  • Enter grades, attendance, tuition, or transfer information to update students' data files.
  • Prepare reports for school administration personnel from student information management system.
  • Update documents or reports to ensure final format.
  • Use automated software to develop correspondence.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • One year trial or probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks because duties involve interaction with children and youth under 18.
  • Must satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI V1230, DoD Civilian Personnel Management System: Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights (details at the provided link).
  • Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members (who are U.S. citizens) must obtain Official Passports prior to departure to the overseas area.
  • One‑year probationary period during which performance, conduct, and alignment with public interests are evaluated.

Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience that includes: utilizing automated systems for data entry and/or data retrieval; preparing correspondence such as letters, memorandum(s), and/or reports; and maintaining files (typical of GS‑04).
  • Four years of education above the high school level from an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
  • Or a combination of education and experience providing at least 100% of the required components: percentage of experience months divided by 12 plus percentage of semester hours of education beyond two years (semester hours minus 60) divided by 60; sum must be ≥100%.
  • One year of specialized experience that includes performing school administrative functions such as student registration and/or attendance tracking; updating student files; and providing customer support to assist with staff needs (typical of GS‑05).
  • Qualified typist, capable of 40 words per minute with ≤3 errors based on a 5‑minute sample.
  • Time in Grade: Applicants who have held a GS position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑05). Applicants who have held a GS position within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.
