The Remote Sensing Technology Institute regularly acquires aerial imagery with the aircrafts and helicopters of the DLR research fleet and the institute’s camera system. In addition, high-resolution satellite images represent an important data basis. For ideal utilisation of these sensor systems, methods and algorithms are being developed that automatically extract relevant geo-information. With your work, you support the development of deep-learning methods with a focus on remote sensing data for application in transport research projects. Your work will include the following tasks:

accompanying the entire process of creating annotated reference datasets: starting with the requirement analysis, the development and test implementation of a guideline, through the selection of aerial and satellite images, to supporting the operational implementation and final acceptance
participating in the refinement of the quality assurance system for DLR’s own reference datasets
communication with external partner
