What to expect
At the Innovation Centre for Small Aircraft Technologies in Würselen, DLR is researching technologies for electric flight and solutions for the aviation of tomorrow. In a motivated and young environment, you will support the development of Airfox – our in-house Python-based tool for fuel cell system sizing.
Your tasks
As part of the development team, you’ll contribute to a large variety of exciting areas, such as optimizing computational performance or improving the graphical user interface.
You’ll work closely with the developers, take ownership of tasks, and find independent solutions to real challenges. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your Python skills and make an impact on the future of sustainable aviation!
Your profile
- Strong Python skills – You should be comfortable writing clean, efficient, and well-structured code
- Experience working in a development team with GitLab – bonus if you know GitLab runners and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with at least one relevant tool or framework: Docker, Kubernetes, Streamlit, Ray, Pytest, Sphinx
- Language skills: Proficient in English or German (professional working level)
- Education: Currently enrolled at a German university
- Work style: Independent, eager to learn, and collaborative – able to integrate your code smoothly with others
- Location: Able to commute to our office in Würselen most weeks
