My client is hiring for a Senior Staff AI Engineer to manage and guide architecture for their core testing platform. You will balance people management (8–10 engineers and scientists) with hands-on system design, scaling evaluation capabilities across LLMs, computer vision, and autonomous systems.
Key Responsibilities
- People Management: Lead hiring, 1:1s, career development, and foster a high-trust engineering culture.
- Technical Direction: Shape evaluation science, metrics, and system architecture across multiple AI domains.
- Hands-On Leadership: Set engineering standards through strategic code reviews, ADRs, and targeted coding.
- Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with product and executive teams to translate roadmaps into execution plans.
Key Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership or engineering management.
- Solid background in ML, data science, or statistics to guide applied R&D and evaluation metrics.
- Proficiency in Python for backend services and data pipelines.
- Proven track record of owning system architecture and scaling cross-functional teams.
- Experience with AI testing, evaluation, governance, or data-quality tools (LLMs, RAG, or computer vision).
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with TypeScript, modern data pipelines (DuckDB, Parquet), Kubernetes, or GPU inference infrastructure.
