About Distil Labs

distil labs is a post-training platform that helps engineers build task-specific models and continually improve them using production data. Our mission is to make post-training as accessible as prompting.

About The Role

We’re looking for a technical communicator who can use and train models with our product, teach experienced developers and help them get more from AI. You’ll make high-quality video, create practical educational content and bring developers together in person. Your work should be useful to someone before they’ve ever tried distil labs.

What you’ll do

  • Create high-quality technical content, especially video. Develop and present explainers, practical walkthroughs and demos, taking them from an initial idea through scripting, recording and publication. Make complex ideas clear with working examples and thoughtful visual explanations.
  • Teach developers something worth knowing. Build tutorials, sample projects and benchmarks around the engineering challenges our audience faces. Give people ideas they can apply in their own work, whether or not they use our product.
  • Run in-person developer events. Organize workshops, meetups and technical sessions, from planning and delivery through to personal follow-up. Help developers learn something useful, meet their peers and take the next step with what they’ve built.
  • Get your work in front of the right developers. Share useful work through developer communities, GitHub and Hugging Face, and make it easy to find through search and AI answers. Follow relevant model releases and community conversations to choose timely topics, then use feedback and adoption data to improve what you make.
  • Develop stories with our technical team. Work with members of technical staff to understand their experiments, engineering decisions and trade-offs, then shape those stories together into content and talks. Bring developers’ questions and feedback back to the team.

What you’ll bring

We care more about agency and a high bar than years on a CV. Two years of high-agency work beats five years of experience without it.

  • You spot what’s worth making and get it done without waiting to be asked. You’ve seen great developer relations up close, and you’d rather make fewer, better pieces than more average ones.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience at a developer tools, AI infrastructure or similarly technical company. Your background could be in developer relations, developer advocacy, field engineering, technical product marketing, community or technical content.
  • The technical depth to use our post-training platform independently, build credible examples, and discuss software with experienced developers. A background in software engineering is a plus.
  • A portfolio of useful technical work, with videos, recorded demos or talks that show how you explain ideas on camera. You’re comfortable presenting and care about both technical accuracy and production quality.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills. You can make a complex subject clear, explain trade-offs honestly, and find an angle that matters to engineers.
  • You enjoy creating with the team. You work closely with technical colleagues to uncover stories and develop them together. You welcome feedback and give credit to the people behind the work.
  • Experience organizing developer events and taking responsibility for the follow-up, plus a willingness to travel for events and community activities.

What success looks like

Developers use what you create, return to learn more and go on to try and actively use distil labs. We’ll look at attributed sign-ups and product-qualified leads alongside direct developer feedback and evidence that your content and events help people solve real problems.

You’ll use those signals to decide which topics, formats and projects deserve more investment.

Why join distil labs?

You’ll work at the intersection of post-training, open-weight models and AI infrastructure, helping developers build and own the models their applications need. It’s an opportunity to build deep expertise in AI and contribute to how the technology gets used in practice.

You’ll work directly with a deeply technical team, getting close to the experiments and engineering decisions behind the product. You’ll have room to explore ideas, build work you’re proud to put your name on, and shape how distil labs reaches and teaches developers.

  • Fully remote across Europe, with occasional travel to Berlin for team time.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity, matching your experience.

distil labs is an equal-opportunity employer. We value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
