• Overview

We are seeking a committed professional to join our Neuromodulation Neuroscience Unit.

The Clinical Specialist will support Neuromodulation Pain and Target Drug Delivery Therapies throughout the region, providing surgical coverage, follow‑up support, troubleshooting, customer service, and education.

Responsibilities

• Represent Medtronic as a device specialist during surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and products are available, providing technical support, device selection, and performing programming and testing of all device systems.
• Manage patients through all phases of the clinical process and educate them on the features and benefits of Medtronic products.
• Provide clinical support in surgeries, re‑programming, troubleshooting, and follow‑ups in hospitals and clinics.
• Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies, coordinating one‑on‑one teaching sessions, formal in‑services, education programs, seminars, and symposia as directed by Leadership.
• Respond promptly and professionally to device‑related inquiries from customers and patients.
• Remain flexible with schedule, including clinical events outside normal business hours, weekends, after hours, and overnight travel as directed by the Clinical Specialist Manager.
• Adhere to company policies, comply with event reporting and documentation using Medtronic technology tools.
• Manage inventory provided for case coverage, including timely transactions when a product is used, sold or transferred, maintaining cycle‑count accuracy, executing product retrievals, and ensuring products are not expired or on hold.
• Contribute to the achievement of quarterly goals associated with specific initiatives at the district, regional, and national levels by partnering with colleagues and communicating effectively with Leadership.
• Maintain a working knowledge of competitive products.
• Regularly visit accounts to establish and maintain relationships with office staff and healthcare providers.
• Place orders with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement.
• Collaborate with materials management to collect purchase orders for cases covered within the territory.
• Understand and apply all applicable quality policies and system items.
• Assist Management and Sales Training in education and training of new employees within the district.
• Effectively utilize Excel, a mobile phone, an i Pad, a laptop, and/or a Samsung tablet.
• Manage business expenses and budget within the specified timeframe.
• Mentor Associate Clinical Specialists.
• Complete all new hire therapy trainings as directed by medical education and complete all corporate compliance training prior to the due date.
• Travel to cover district cases as needed in the district and occasionally to other districts at the discretion of the Clinical Manager.

Qualifications

• Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or
• Associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience.
• Nice to Have
• Bachelor's degree in a health care related field.
• Registered nurse or HCP with experience in a sterile environment.
• Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care.
• Experience in servicing medical personnel on product use.
• Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company, and clinical experience in a specialty area: neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, operating room, pain management, or home health care.
• Understanding of basic reimbursement and healthcare environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Other Job Requirements
• Function using healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation.
• Serve as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, with periodic need to work weekends, evenings, nights, and overnight travel within own or neighboring districts.
• Work efficiently and autonomously with little direction when outside clinical events.
• Attend national meetings, district meetings, and other training as requested.
• Wear a 7‑9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room.
• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• Sit, stand, and walk for 8+ hours per day.
• Bend, stoop, squat, and balance frequently.
• Maintain vision abilities for close, distance, depth perception, and adjustment of focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
• Hold a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy; drive approximately 50% of the time within assigned territory; may require overnight travel.
• For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies 8 C. F. R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
• Physical Job Requirements

The responsibilities of this role require independent mobility, regular interaction with a computer, and the ability to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and carrying up to 40 lbs.

Benefits & Compensation

Base salary range (USD): 76,000 – 114,000.

In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) to provide additional incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding goals.
