SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for managing the overall safety, health, and environmental activities with the primary goal of reducing loss and liability. This position will ensure that all EHS systems and processes are robust and meet regulatory requirements. The role will also have responsibility for the design, implementation, audit and review of environmental, health and safety standards. This key role will lead EHS matters to ensure the Company meets or exceeds legislative, corporate and industry requirements, as well as best practice standards.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EHS MANAGER

  • Supports the development, implementation, and management of safety programs to ensure compliance with EHS regulations
  • Investigates and documents workplace accidents/incidents involving injuries and near misses, and supports the development of corrective measures and the monitoring of their timely implementation
  • Leads the improvement of sustainability in relation to waste, air/water emissions, energy consumption, and other environmentally relevant activities
  • Works with management to develop and promote a proactive safety culture with a focus on prevention and compliance with legal requirements
  • Monitors and reports on EHS performance, including the development of ideas for improvement, prevention, and corrective measures
  • Conducts internal EHS audits to identify risks/deviations and initiate countermeasures
  • Works with management to monitor, continuously improve, and implement measures in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and/or carry out all company-specific/legal reviews of measures
  • Maintain and update the company-specific central EHS system (Sharepoint) and other EHS reporting
  • Responsible for compliance with legal EHS regulations and group/company-specific processes

SAFETY OFFICER'S RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assumption of the role of occupational safety specialist in accordance with Section 2 of the accident prevention regulation “Company doctors and occupational safety specialists” (DGUV Regulation 2)
  • Support in the selection, testing, procurement, and maintenance of operating facilities, work equipment, personal protective equipment, workplace design, and assessment of working conditions
  • Safety inspection of operating facilities, technical work equipment, and work procedures prior to commissioning or introduction
  • Monitoring occupational safety and accident prevention through regular inspections, accident analysis, and training/instruction
  • Participation in and chairing of regular meetings of the occupational safety committee, as well as documentation and follow-up

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Engineering or technical training with qualification as an occupational safety specialist
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in the field of industrial manufacturing
  • Ability to analyze data and draw sound conclusions
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Independent initiation and implementation of corrective and remedial measures in cooperation with maintenance
  • Ability to actively participate in team-oriented processes, driving the team's commitment to conclusions/solutions
  • Knowledge of current safety and damage control practices is essential
  • Independently conduct workshops on occupational safety, environmental protection, and energy conservation
