The Impact You Will Have Join us in shaping the future of SonarQube’s on-premises platform, directly empowering over 10 million developers worldwide to write cleaner, more secure code. As a Backend Developer in our Platform Team, you will build and enhance critical services that ensure SonarQube’s seamless installation, upgrade, and scalable operation for our global customer base.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering SonarQube releases on schedule, working with a diverse tech stack including Java, Spring, Tomcat, Databases, and ElasticSearch. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all features developed by other squads are continuously integrated, providing essential guidance on testing and packaging. You will contribute to tackling key challenges such as scaling to meet growing demand and improving the overall developer experience for both our internal teams and external users.
Based in our Geneva office, you will be part of a collaborative, innovative, and fast‑paced squad that thrives on technical excellence and ownership. You’ll work alongside highly skilled engineers to simplify complex platform operations, ensuring reliability and performance for our open‑source community of over 500,000 members and tens of thousands of corporate customers, including industry leaders like NASA, Novartis, Ubisoft, and Microsoft. What You Will Do Daily
Develop and enhance core backend services for SonarQube’s on-premises platform, focusing on seamless installation, upgrade, and scalable operations.
Design and implement robust solutions using Java, Spring, PostgreSQL, and ElasticSearch, ensuring the stability and performance of our platform.
Collaborate with other development squads to guide continuous integration, testing, and packaging, ensuring smooth feature releases for our on-premises users.
Drive technical excellence and contribute to architectural decisions for the SonarQube on‑premises platform, balancing immediate needs with long‑term scalability and maintainability.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges related to platform stability, performance, and developer experience.
The Experience You Will Need
Strong Java development skills
with 6+ years of experience writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
Deep understanding of system architecture , design patterns, and performance optimization.
Experience with databases
(e.g., PostgreSQL) and writing efficient SQL queries.
Commitment to code quality , with hands‑on experience in automated testing and CI/CD practices.
Growth mindset
and experience in mentoring, coaching, and elevating your teammates.
Proactive problem‑solving attitude,
taking ownership of initiatives and driving them to completion.
Experience with container technologies
like Docker or Kubernetes, and a good understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles are a plus.
